- Job Description and Qualifications
- Key responsibilities of this position are to provide field management services and oversight of construction safety and activities for pipeline projects being built in North America.
- This position will be primarily field based but will contain an office component if an effort to support upcoming pipeline projects and development of Air Products pipeline construction program.
- The Pipeline Field Construction Manager (FCM) is responsible for leading the construction of assigned pipeline projects, focusing on Safety, Quality, Risk, Schedule and Cost.
- Air Products is dedicated to using established tools, work practices and methods, combined with experience and productive relationships to actively lead all aspects of construction.
- The FCM may be the sole Air Product representative on a site, a member of a construction management team, or the site lead, depending on project size.
- Developing, driving, and implementing a multifaceted safety program with the goal of zero incidents.
- Sufficiently involved in field activities to assess and influence safety and quality and have a good understand of progress and efficiency.
- Quickly identifying and elevate issues (safety, risk management, quality, schedule, cost) to the Air Products Project Manager.
- Leading Lump Sum Contracts with extras and Reimbursable Contracts.
- Collaborating with the onsite contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and others in a respectful and professional manner to focus on making every Air Products project successful.
- Display all characteristics of Air Products Leadership on the construction site and includes being a Leader of Safety on the site, with the workforce, commissioning team, and operations/client.
- Implement work practices (e.g. Job Safety Assessments, Risk Analysis, Safety Audits, Quality Assurance, Security Protocols, and Progress Measurement).
- Provide daily updates as required and Weekly Reports to the Project Manager (e.g. Weekly Meetings Notes, General Updates, Contract Administration, Safety, Quality, and Progress Issues), as well as input to schedule and progress tracking.
- Proactively and expediently communicate issues to the Home Office Supervisor, Project Manager and Procurement Contracts Manager.
- Lead the turnover of completed pipeline system and commissioned system to Air Products.
- Understand project timing needs and assess and handle the Contractor s plan and execution to achieve the required achievements.
- An attitude and demonstrated competency to deliver Safety on a construction site.
- A consistent track record of high performance with minimum 10 years of direct Pipeline Construction experience.
- Expert and proficient in interpretation and understanding of general pipeline construction industry codes and guidelines.
- i.e. OSHA, 49 CFR part 192, 49 CFR part 195, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, etc.
- Ability to integrate Air Products requirements
- Quality driven and accountable
- A track record of success in safety, quality, contract management, planning, and progress tracking.
- Proven leadership and social skills.
- Ability to participate knowledgeably in constructability reviews, seeking opportunities for improvement during design and execution.
- A complete understanding of all pipelining techniques including but not limited to: design, installation, quality, regulatory requirements, pressure testing, cleaning, safety, environmental controls, right of ways and project closeout.
